Jeff A. Mitchell ATPL(H) ATPL(A)

My name is Jeff Mitchell - I am a Canadian citizen and professional pilot with more than 11,000 hours total time and hold an ATPL(A) and ATPL(H). I am licensed in Canada, the USA, and Malaysia. I also hold instructor ratings in both categories.   I am currently employed by Airspray Air Tankers, on the Lockheed L-188 Electra, flying wildfire suppression missions.

I have a wide range of aviation experience flying fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. I hold 13 type ratings and I am a Captain qualified on Dash-8, Lear 31A, SK76, SK61, AS332, and the H225, among others. For several of those years, I was based in Halifax, NS, and St. John’s, NL where I gained valuable IFR experience, (LTS 100’ DH, 600 RVR CAT II ILS qualified).

Prior to that, I flew light and intermediate helicopters across Canada in various VFR Utility roles including forestry, onshore oil/gas, High Arctic mineral exploration, animal survey, external load, aerial filming, flight instruction, and wildfire suppression. Before that, I was a fixed-wing instructor teaching Private and Commercial licenses. I also built and flew an RV-8 (aerobatic sport plane) which I hangared in Phoenix, AZ.

Over thirty years of professional domestic and international flying has armed me with a solid skill set in areas of flight safety, CRM, weather, and advanced aircraft systems.
